How We Estimate Surrogacy Costs in India

Where our surrogacy cost ranges come from, what we include and leave out, and how often we review them.

Where our figures come from

Our ranges are compiled from cost information that fertility clinics and an insurer publish online, reviewed in November 2026:

For each item we use a range that covers typical prices at registered centres, then add the items to give the total of ₹6.25 lakh – ₹15 lakh. Every total on this site is the exact sum of the items above it.

What we include and leave out

We include only costs the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021 allows: tests, IVF, embryo transfer, the surrogate's medical care and delivery, her 36-month insurance and the legal work. Some published estimates add a payment to the surrogate on top of her medical costs. We leave that out, because the law does not allow a fee to a surrogate.

City pages

We do not have reliable public data showing a fixed price difference between cities, so every city page uses the same national range and explains what moves the price. Each city page also lists the licensed centres there, taken from the National ART & Surrogacy Registry, so you can get real quotes.

How often we review

We review the ranges at least every six months, and sooner if the law or market prices change. If you have a written quote that falls outside our range, please tell us.

These are typical ranges, not a quote. Your own cost depends on your medical situation and the centre you choose.

We never arrange commercial surrogacy or a paid surrogate. India allows only altruistic surrogacy.
